Build your AI search (AEO/GEO) strategy on one page
When your CEO asks “what's our AI-search strategy?”, you need a point of view you can defend on one screen — not another 40-slide deck. This free canvas turns AI-search chaos into eight clear blocks: your objective, the prompts and engines that matter, where you stand today, and the moves to change it. Fill it in below, then take the editable copy to your team.
Why AI-search strategy stays stuck
Another 40-slide deck no one reads
You don't need a strategy document the size of a novel. You need a point of view you can defend to your CEO on one screen.
Strategy scattered across tabs and tools
Prompts in one doc, screenshots in another, a half-finished plan in a third. Nothing you'd actually put in front of the board.
Can't tell the signal from the hype
Everyone's shouting about AEO and GEO. You need a way to separate what moves visibility from what's just noise.
No answer when the CEO asks
“What's our AI-search strategy?” deserves better than “we're looking into it.” This gives you a real one, today.
what this is
Eight boxes, one screen — your whole AI-search strategy.
It's the AI Search Optimization Framework collapsed to one page: pick an objective (visibility or narrative control), name the prompts and engines that matter, check where you stand, and sequence the moves. Work at the level of prompts and answers, not keywords and pages — that's the shift AI search demands.
Your one-page AI search strategy canvas
Fill it in below. Everything saves to this browser automatically — no account, nothing sent until you ask for the editable copy.
Pick your primary aim: visibility (getting shown at all), narrative control (getting shown correctly), or the balance between them.
The 5–10 questions your buyers actually ask AI. Split them branded vs non-branded, and tag the funnel stage.
Which AI surfaces your buyers actually use. Don't boil the ocean — name the two or three that matter.
For each priority prompt, mark: Cited / Mentioned / Absent / Misrepresented — and whether the answer showed sources (search-augmented) or not (model knowledge).
Where do most of your priority prompts land — branded/non-branded × model-knowledge/search-augmented? That names which playbook you're running.
The top 3–5 levers from your quadrant, in order. Fewer, sequenced, and owned beats a long wish-list.
Pick 2–3 KPIs — mention %, citation share, narrative/accuracy score — and set a target plus a review cadence.
Name one owner and a cadence: weekly for hot branded prompts, monthly for the dashboard, quarterly for a full refresh.
editable copy
Want it as a file you can type in and forward?
The canvas above saves to your browser. If you'd rather have an editable Google Slides copy — one you can drop your data into, present, and send up the chain — I'll email it over, with a print-ready PDF alongside.
One email, from me. The page and the method stay free either way.
Questions about AI search strategy
What is an AI search strategy?
An AI search strategy is a plan for how your brand shows up — and shows up correctly — when buyers ask AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews for recommendations. It sets an objective (visibility or narrative control), the prompts and engines that matter, where you stand today, the priority moves to change that, and how you'll measure it. This one-page canvas captures all of that on a single screen.
How is an AEO strategy different from an SEO strategy?
AEO (answer engine optimization) works at the level of prompts and answers, not keywords and pages. Traditional SEO asks “where do I rank for this keyword?”; AEO asks “when a buyer asks AI this question, am I in the answer, and is the story right?” The technical foundations overlap, but the operating unit, the measurement, and many of the levers are different.
Do I need paid tools to fill this in?
No. You can fill every block by hand — the “where you stand now” block just takes a few manual checks in ChatGPT and Perplexity. If you'd rather not do the manual checks, the free AI Visibility Scorecard fills that block for you, and paid tools help once you're tracking at scale.
How often should I revisit my AI search strategy?
Revisit the whole canvas quarterly, and check your highest-priority branded prompts weekly during active campaigns. AI answers shift run-to-run, so a quarterly re-plan plus a lightweight weekly/monthly cadence keeps the strategy honest without turning it into a full-time job.
